Current Projects

CHILD VISION SCREENING
The free process involves taking Polaroid-like pictures of children in the ages of 6 months to 6 years. A qualified Eye Doctor determines if further treatment is required long before  traditional detection methods find a problem.

CAMP BADGER

Lions Camp Badger is located in the upstate New York town of  Spencer, just south of Ithaca. It is the facility at which the Empire State Speech and Hearing Clinic conducts a summer school program for children from five to twenty-one years of  age with special needs.  Ovid-Willard Lions contributes countless hours through the Adopt-a-Cabin program along with monetary donation.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE DEVICES

Through direct contributions to the Seneca County Office of  the Aging, Emergency Response Devices and batteries are provided to people with severe medical conditions which may require immediate medical response. Theses necklace type devices contain a button which when pressed sends an electronic signal to the Sheriff’s Dispatcher for emergency response.

SENECA COUNTY CHRISTMAS PROJECT
The project provides food, clothing and gifts during Christmas to families in Seneca County. The club provides an annual donation to help those in need during the holiday season.

SENIORS DINNER

Each year the Ovid-Willard Lions Club sponsors a free St. Patrick’s Day Corn Beef and Cabbage Dinner for area Seniors. The Club recognizes the contributions the Seniors have made to our community. This is just a small way of saying thank you for the good deeds past and present.

EYE GLASS PROGRAM

The Ovid-Willard Lions Club provides free vision examinations and glasses to anyone who can show financial need. Our Sight  First Program Chairman works with School Nurses in the local School Districts to insure that students who need glasses get glasses.

CHRISTMAS FLOWERS

Each year the Ovid-Willard Lions Club sponsors free delivery of Christmas Poinsettias to area Seniors.  This program is part  of the Club’s continued commitment to the Seniors in our area that have done so much for our community.

COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION

The Ovid-Willard Lions Club will donate over $15,000 in the coming year to community relief, support, and recognition.

Fund Raising Activities

ANNUAL AUCTION

On the 1st Friday in June the Ovid-Willard Lions Club holds an auction. Local residents donate their no longer needed treasures to the club. Club members work to gather items throughout the community leading up to the event. The Annual Ovid-Willard Lions Club Auction is a tradition in the community and is attended by many excited buyers. Food and beverages are also available at a Lions Club concession booth.

WINE COUNTRY CIRCUIT DOG SHOW

During the last week of September the Ovid-Willard Lions can be found at Sampson State Park in Romulus, New York. The  Club Members are in charge of parking and traffic control throughout the show. Valet Parking is enjoyed by many and many returning participants purchase Valet Parking in advance.  All hands on deck!

EMPIRE FARM DAYS

During August the largest farm equipment show in the Northeast is held at the Rodman Lott & Sons Farm in Seneca Falls, New York.  The Ovid-Willard Lions Club can be found in the Dairy Exhibitors Tent selling ice cream, beverages and the best Root Beer Float at the show.
